OOOO GRRRRRL Okay, let's go from top-to-bottom and why: Animated - Technical prowess, storytelling, variety, morality, creativity Horror - Shock, fear, hilarity, surprise when it's good (lmao), community Comedy - I don't expect much & am glad when it's funny, e.g. Entertainment Value (comfort food) Musical - Choreography, memorability, fantasy Fantasy - Visual effort, worldbuilding Porn - character beats (get it? haha just kidding *sweats*) Sci-fi - its ok Mostly what I enjoy most out of a film are the characters: their relationships to each other and how their experiences develop them. And then how visually stunning it is. And if the story has an important lesson/message/purpose. Bonus points if the movie is funny, or emotionally challenging! I also love bittersweet endings! All in all, anything except movies based on history ejejeje
